About Me
Born and raised in Spring Lake, Michigan, Emily Kelly’s journey into the world of performing arts began at the tender age of 3 when she fell in love with dance. Fueled by this love, she made the pivotal decision to pursue a career in the performing arts, leading her to enroll at Oklahoma City University. Here, amidst the vibrant energy of the campus and the guidance of dedicated instructors, Emily is honing her skills and expanding her knowledge in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Dance Pedagogy. With each class and performance, Emily is not only preparing for her future as a performer but also laying the foundation for a fulfilling career in dance education.

At the age of 3, Emily embarded on her dance journey with tap and ballet. By age 8, she had joined a competitive dance team, immersing herself in various styles including tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theatre, and pointe. Her enthusiasm for dance flourished at competitions and conventions, where she gleaned knowledge from esteemed choreographers and industry leaders. These experiences not only polished her skills but also fueled her deep passion for dance, solidifying her commitment to the art form.

Emily is currently immersed in her pursuit of a degree in Dance Pedagogy at Oklahoma CIty University’s esteemed Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment. Throughout her academic journey, she has unearthed a profound passion for teaching and choreographing, alongside performing. Engaging in specialized courses such as Ballet Pedagogy, Tap Pedagogy, and Jazz Pedagogy, Emily is in the process of shaping her teaching philosophy while honing the essential skills necessary for a career in dance education. Her exploration extends to courses like Choreography Studio and Choreography Production, where her affinity for choreographing continues to blossom. Supported by the exceptional faculty at Oklahoma City University, Emily is not only learning to respect the legacy of those who have paved the way in the dance community but also discovering how to carve her own distinct path in the field.

Since 2022, Emily has served as Vice President of philanthropy for Alpha Chi Omega, a role that has ignited her passion for community service and advocacy. With a particular focus on raising awareness about domestic violence, she has collaborated with organizations such as the YWCA, Palomar, and RAINN to educate her campus and the surrounding community. Through her efforts, Emily has emerged as a leading advocate, dedicated to promoting healthy relationships and empowering individuals by highlighting the signs of unhealthy ones. Her commitment to social impact and service underscores her unwavering dedication to creating positive change and teaching others that love should never hurt.
